Another one is out the park!!

I'm feeling this one man! The detail in the armor is the shit and I'm especially feeling the background. The pic of the girl is really good but I think you spent the most time on the background and then second, ole girls armor. Now, for the constructive critisism. The first thing I'd say is that her left arm seems shorter than her sword arm. I sometimes have that problem too except I'd make one arm bigger than the other one. I gotta stop that shit! Lol! The second problem, which really isn't a problem, just more of a preference. The shading in this one seems a bit off to me. What I mean is that I probably would've made the shadowed colors darker than the lighter parts. But like I said before, that really isn't a problem, it's more of preference. So really there's only one thing wrong with this one and it doesn't detract from the overall look of the work. Nice job man. One more thing too, I just read your description for the pic and I have to say that you're background extra sick. The background is good enough to have been it's own piece.

lol hand problems, yeah
yeah probably the part im less happy about is he left arm grabbing her robe, i tried to make her a fencer with lady-like manners so she lift a part of her robe upward for preventing her to step on the clothing while duelling, its a female fencing stance actually i've seen it in old picture, but mabie due to the facing angle, i didnt got it right Oo oh well perfection does'nt exist, you can always get close but you burn before getting into it

Niiicccceeee!!!!

Wow!! This one is your best! It is a very deep and detailed pic. I'm giving you a 9 for this one because I don't believe in 10s. The reason is because once you reach a 10, that's means your work was perfect. One should never think that their art is perfect because that means that there isn't any reason to improve. Keep striving for that 10 and keep improving.

Oni-kaya responds:

Thanks! you are very wise. *nods* I actually think this one has a few errors on it, but I keep working on it! :D thanks again XD

I'll give you an 7 for this one.

This pic is a lot better than your head shot of the guy with purple hair. Your ink job is a lot better this time around but it I really think you could do more with this. Maybe you should take the time to complete it. This piece would have been a 9 but the lack of color and unfinished look of this piece takes away from the overall score. So I'm giving you a 7 for this one but I'm giving you a vote of 4 and I'll scout you as well because I can recognize your potential. One more thing too, I think that your work would benefit from being colored digitally too. This is a really good piece but it just doesn't seem finished to me. Keep up the good work!

Oni-kaya responds:

Yeah, mmh do you have an idea about what colors would look good for the t-shirts?

A 7 it is then.

This is a nice head shot and good character design but your inking isn't very smooth and looks very sketchy and rushed. I think this work as well as the other works you've done would benefit from a nice solid outline. It reminds me of John Romita Jr's work from back in the late 90's. While his overall design look good the sketchiness of his penciling detracted from the work itself. It's still a good piece though. Nice job.

Oni-kaya responds:

thanks!
yeah I know, I'm still working on it, u.u the bad news is that I need a new inkpen, I dont know, I even tried to work the lines on the photoshop, But it seems a lot of work to me *rolls over the floor*.
But thats'why I wanted the comments, thank you :D

Okay man, here we go.....

This shit is sick man. Good job with the colors and effects. Did you do this with a pad or did you do on paper first then scan it? I'm still trying to get everything I need for my stuff. I also scanned and colored somemore of my other stuff but then I cleaned it up on Photoshop. What would you suggest using?

ZeWitchKid responds:

i used both actually, i like i said in the comments i drew it 1st on a piece of paper, so i get the general ida, later i scanned it and retraced all the lines using my tablet, then added the colors and shades.
i recommend a tablet because it gives cleaner lines, when you scan stuff , the scanned image always appear messy when you zoom in the details, and the lines arent clean, of course you can always spend 1 hour with the effects in illustrator or pshop to clean the whole thing, but thats time wasted in my own opinion

i personally draw using inkpens, wich are cleaner than graphite pens, and still the images look messed up. thats why i prefer a tablet for CCG.

you could see what i mean by looking at my deviant art page, i have lots of sketches there www.ZeWitchKid.deviantart.com/gallery so you can compare scanned lineart VS tablet lineart.

however if you prefer to stick with scans, i dont recommend to use the vector functions in illustrator, while many artist use it, it tend to retrace some details the wrong way, and dont always get the curves right, instead...go in image > adjust >Levels and you can play with the light/gray/dark tones to make the image clean and clear, wich make it decent enough for coloring, i sometimes do that then correct the minor details with the tablet

i personally Use Paint tool SAI for doing my linework with my tablet, its a cheap and very effective program for designing lineart
because its small size ( only 3.9 mb Oo) and low memory usage ...you can make huge pictures 10k/10k pixels and up wich allow you to make very detailed pictures.
also due to its low cpu-memory usage, you can use the bulit in rotat tool to always get a comfortable angle to draw your lines, and it dosent take any loading time like pshop, plus paint tool SAI have a bulit in vector engine, wich allow you to combine regular line with vector lines, ( vector lines are considered as object, and they can be modified until you get what you want , it beats tracing-erasing for 15 min until you get what you want)

then you can use pshop to add colors and effects.

i hope it helped! have fun

Good shit my man!!

I really like the stylized look you're using. Also, I am going to try the pen you recommended on my own work and see if it comes out better. Kudos!! Also, I only gave it 8 only because it wasn't fully colored. If it wasn't for that, I would've given it a 9. I never give tens because if you are an artists like me, then you'll know that nothing you ever draw will be the peak of your ablilities and we always keep working towards that perfect score.

BCEman responds:

Thank you much.

Niiiccceeee!!!

I'm feein' this pic. I nice mix of anime and western art and you can correct me if I'm wrong. What type of program did you use to color it? I'm using Adobe on mine but it doesn't come anywhere close to this. Anyway, nice pic though my boy!!!

toshema responds:
